We publish local histories in two main formats. Our Big Red Books are comprehensive studies of local areas and take several years to come to fruition. Our ‘Shorts‘ are studies either of one smaller area or a particular aspect of the local history of an area. These are a great way of engaging volunteers with our work and bringing our research to the public in a popular and affordable format.
Our current Big Red Book project is on Harwich and our most recent ‘Short’ project is on the development of Southend as a seaside resort in the Victorian period.
